Gastrointestinal Statis

GI Statis is a common problem in domestic rabbits, it can potentially be a deadly condition where the digestive system slows, or stops completely.

Signs of GI Statis:

  • Small, or malformed faecal pellets
  • No sign of passing of faecal pellets
  • Loss of appetite, not interested in any food offered
  • Lethargy
  • Hunched position.

If you think you rabbit may be suffering with GI Statis it is important to take them straight to a vet. Rabbits are prey creatures and therefore do not show signs of illness until it is serious.
